Wyclef Jean, former presidential hopeful in Haiti, took time out during his New York City concert on Friday to bash Sean Penn’s opposition to his bid. During the song President at Hot 97′s On the Raggae Trip, Jean sang: “I got a message for Sean Penn: Maybe he ain’t see me in Haiti because he was too busy sniffing cocaine.”
Jean spat the lyrics in response to Penn’s very publicized criticism of Jean’s campaign. Last month, Penn visited Larry King Live and stated that Jean’s bid was merely “a vision of flying around the world, talking to people.” Penn also offered a column to Huggington Post which addressed Jean’s absence in Haitian relief efforts following the January earthquake. His article read: “None among us felt or expressed anger toward it, but rather a universal sadness for his silence, as he is America’s most admired cultural link to Haiti.”
Wyclef Jean is a boss, he is so loved in his home country of Haiti that they asked him to run for president. through his YĆ©le Haiti Foundation foundation he has raised millions of dollars for the country and people of Haiti, he also has personally donated millions. Through a joint venture with Timberland company, he has also released limited addition boots with proceeds going to his foundation.
